Devha Ghagra SangamPilibhit is the north eastern most district of the Bareilly division in Rohilkhand region, one of the forest-rich areas of Northern India. The geographical limits of Pilibhit district covers almost ten small or medium sized water bodies including river Devhahuti Ganga or Devha in the north western side of Pilibhit and very famous River Ghagra or Khakra bordering the north east part of Pilibhit. In fact the major water source for entire Pilibhit city and its people is from the river Devhahuti Ganga since the other sources of water like canals and water bodies are mostly used for agricultural purpose.

River Devha and River Ghagra though forms a boundary to the entire Pilibhit city it gets united at one place which has become famous because of this wonderful Sangam. This place is known as Brahamchari Ghat in the Khakra locality of Pilibhit city. The most exciting factor about this tourist spot is the journey to this place. Conventionally, there are no proper roads to this place and seldom there can be found any transportation to this venue. The best way to visit the destination is by boarding bull carts which are often available here and they help to travel to a place from where again one has to cross both the rivers to visit the main Ghat.

Ganga Snan is an important ritual for all Hindus. Even people from other caste and creed have started believing in the pious waters of the river and consider one bath in the holy River Ganga as divine. Every year at the time of Karthik Purnima, also considered as the day for a holy bath in the sacred river Ganga is grandly celebrated at Devha Ghagra Sangam. Devotees from all parts of the country come here and take the holy bath in the Sangam and offer their prayers to God Almighty. A huge fair is organized before the Sangam at the occasion of this Kartik Purnima where people of different communities come and join hands to pray and then cook meal (dal bhaat) on the Ghats of the rivers and then offering the holy river, distribute the food among other devotees.

The best time to visit Devha Ghagra Sangam is during the months from October to December every year since the climate around this time in Pilibhit is pleasant with moderate temperatures. However the time of Karthik Purnima is apt for the visit each year.

How to reach

The Ayurvedic College is based at a distance of around 3km from Pilibhit Junction Railway station. From there one needs to travel in bull cart and then cross rivers to reach Brahamchari Ghat. The distance approximately is around 2 kms from Ayurvedic College.
